A few lines from Abi Smith about her weekend rides
I did the last round of the Velo29 Winter Series at Croft on Saturday and had some 50mph winds to fight off! I initiated a breakaway about halfway through the women’s race. Four of us stayed away and sprinted for the line, I managed to take the win
I then did the men’s race after just for extra training (and why wouldn't you?) but it was all very fragmented and very tough!
On Sunday I did the one of the Yorkshire Reliability rides. It was the 70k Airedale Olympic ride which came up through Ripon from Pool area. I managed to cling onto the back of the front group containing Alistair Brownlee and Scott Thwaites until 7k to go where they dropped me on the flats I blame the junior gears...
I finished about 5 mins behind with Simon Ketteringham from Nova. Alistair had a chat and said well done when we were back at the cafe at the end which was really cool! Fair to say it was such a tough ride and quite a few power PBS to show as evidence!
For those that use Strava, on the Sunday reliability ride Abi got 37 QOMs and 35 cups.
